7 TIPS TO MAKE A MOVE IN A SHORT TIME

In fact, moving house often represents a waste of time, especially when it lasts due to delays or logistics errors. If it is true that usually the average duration of a move is 48 hours, it is also true that in order to try not to move in a week it is necessary to take into account some important yet ignored or underestimated aspects. We have identified seven of them and we think that sharing them in public is a good intention to advise others on what to do and what not to do when you want to save precious time during the move. Let’s start with the first tip: organizing furniture transport in advance.

1) SEARCH FOR A MOVER IN GOOD TIME

That is: move in advance by sending your request for a quote to the moving companies in the area. Let’s not assume that they are all free to wait for us and with the possibility of taking action within 48-72 hours. Especially in critical periods such as the summer or the Christmas holidays, where it could be more difficult to have free and available teams of workers. The advice is to allow at least 4-5 weeks from the request to the actual move.

2) REQUEST PERMITS TO MOVE IN COMMON

It seems like a superfluous step, but both the permit to occupy public land (in the case of a house located on public land) and the request for access to ZTL areas (if the house to be cleared or the one to move falls within these areas) are both requirements which must be obtained through the competent municipality or body (sometimes in person). And often times are not immediate. Here too, therefore, it is advisable to inquire beforehand, well in advance, in order to avoid discovering late that the wait to produce the documents is longer than expected.

3) CALCULATE THE RIGHT TIMING (HOLIDAYS AND BRIDGES)

Holidays and weekends are variables that not everyone considers, but it is good to keep in mind. Let’s think of Easter Monday, of the various long weekends that can be presented on the occasion of May 1st or April 25th, but we also think of August 15th, Christmas or the Epiphany. Days off which could mess up plans and which should consequently be avoided or included in moving plans, also on the basis of agreements with the firm or company that will carry out the work (see last point).

4) REDUCE THE WORKLOAD WITH THE DEPOSIT

Moving can also mean deferring the movement of furniture in several phases, so as to optimize resources and use less time. An intelligent system is to rely on a furniture depot, thus avoiding having to deal with disassembly and assembly operations that are excessive in relation to one’s abilities and one’s free time. Unused things could even be sold, taking advantage of the used furniture collection and sale service.

5) TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EXTRA SERVICES LIKE MODIFICATION OF FURNITURE

Among the useful services to save time and conclude the move earlier there is also the modification of the furniture, a perfect solution to avoid wasting whole days looking for a new kitchen or a new wardrobe. With the modification of the furniture, the decor can be adapted to the new spaces of the house in which one is going to live, reducing the budget required for the purchase of what is needed. An option that can interest young couples, students, workers, families and more!

6) RELY ON COMPANIES EQUIPPED TO WORK IN A SHORT TIME

Another piece of advice that may seem obvious about moving house quickly has to do with equipment. To work well and quickly you need not only arms, but also machinery of a certain type, especially for the transport of bulky and heavy objects, such as pianos, safes, sculptures, etc. A machine like PianoPlan, for example, represents the non plus ultra for transporting any piece of furniture and furnishings to the upper floors, without necessarily needing a crane or a lifting platform. Saving time has never been so easy and cheap!

7) COORDINATE WITH THE REFERENCE REMOVER

The last piece of advice is related to the bad habit of taking too many things for granted. A defect that in a move can be detrimental, because if there is no communication between the client and the mover, there is the risk of getting booed for fiascos. Ignoring, for example, that someone (the mover or the client) has to take care of the occupation permits for public land. And that the boxes must be packed sooner or later depending on the agreements made in the estimate phase. And so for dozens of other decisions and steps. So be careful: talking to each other and writing things down in black and white is always the best way to avoid misunderstandings and reduce moving times to a minimum!
