MOVING IN THE SUMMER: 5 POINTS TO KNOW

Let’s immediately dispel a myth: moving in the summer is possible, and sometimes it can even be convenient. It’s not just about temperatures or deserted cities, there are many points to consider and concern aspects that are most often underestimated. Like the precious working holidays, a golden moment that a family can use to their advantage to optimize energy and timing. In this article we have focused attention on five factors that must be kept in mind when evaluating the option of moving in the summer. Let’s see them together one by one in no particular order, so as to better understand how to get organized and what mistakes to avoid.

1) EXPLOIT THE HOLIDAYS REDUCE STRESS

Obvious, but it’s worth remembering anyway: during the summer you can go on vacation for a week or two, giving up the holidays to dedicate yourself to the move. Having more time available – and taking your mind off your daily chores – allows you to manage this delicate moment more profitably, avoiding too much stress. It is clear that it is a sacrifice, but it is equally true that it can also become an economic saving: by taking care of the disassembly of the furniture and the packing of your clothes and your goods, you will be able to contain costs and speed up the work of the movers.

2) BEST PRACTICES TO AVOID THE HEAT

There is no doubt: high temperatures are the biggest disadvantage of a move in the summer. However, we need to be smart, in order to reduce the weight and the incidence of sultriness and heat during the operations of moving and transport. Packing everything you don’t need in your daily life during the spring, for example, allows you to anticipate the times and avoid the danger of finding yourself in the middle of summer sweating seven shirts. Conversely, if you’re not in a position to plan ahead, you could entrust the packing of your furnishings entirely to the moving company: you’ll spend a little more, but you won’t have to suffer the dreaded heat.

3) BUILDING COMPANIES WORK MORE… IN THE SUMMER!

Yes, moving companies work more in the summer, because people, taking advantage of the holidays, manage their needs better. But the real problem becomes another: the construction companies. Thanks to the clement weather, the construction companies and the craftsmen work double if not triple. This could delay moving into your new home, to the detriment of moving house earlier than necessary. It is also worth taking this aspect into account, discussing the effective deadline for the move with your contractor and architects.

4) THE VARIABLE OF NEIGHBORS OUT OF HOME

If you live in an apartment building, you know very well that neighbors are courteous and nice as long as everything goes well. Every change is experienced as an inconvenience, which is why moving when most of the tenants are on vacation could be a winning choice. It’s also true that if you live in a block with middle-aged people who work during the day, it might make more sense to move during the year, when the apartments are empty from morning to night because everyone is in the office. Then decide, based on the age of the condominiums, whether it is more convenient to move in the summer when there are holidays or in the rest of the year when the standard working hours are in force.

5) AND THE VARIABLE OF CHILDREN… AT HOME

Like neighbours, children and older children in general are also a variable to keep in mind. If during the year children up to twenty years of age and over spend at least half a day in kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school or university, in the summer period the holidays weigh like a ton, forcing parents to bend over backwards to commit one and the other to sports or summer camps. Even adding a move risks proving to be detrimental, which is why we advise you to plan your moves well, and keep in mind that moving is a matter that concerns the whole family, and not just the adult component.
